Chinese smartphones are currently making impressive sales starts one after the other. After the Redmi K40 with 300,000 units sold after 10 minutes and 13 million sales in 10 seconds for the Realme GT, it is now the turn of the Vivo S9.
The Vivo S9, which was only unveiled on March 3rd and went on sale on March 12th, also seems to be enjoying great demand in its home market. Because as the manufacturer has announced, the new smartphone achieved sales of 100 million Chinese yuan within 9 seconds. This corresponds to the equivalent of almost 13 million euros. According to the manufacturer, the Vivo S9 is even a second faster than the Realme GT when this sales limit is reached. Sales via various channels such as the official Vivo shop, JD.com and others were added up.
If the sales mentioned are broken down to the unit price of the Vivo S9, sales of around 30,000 to 33,000 units result. Because the device costs 2,999 (8 GB RAM + 128 GB memory) or 3,299 yuan (12 GB + 256 GB), which corresponds to around 385 to 425 euros, depending on the memory configuration. Not yet included in the figures is the Vivo S9e version, which is slightly cheaper at 2.399 yuan and will not go on sale in China until March 27.
The Vivo S9 is the first smartphone with the new MediaTek Dimensity 1100. For this purpose, the manufacturer packs a 4,000 mAh battery, which can be quickly charged with 33 watts, in the device, which is particularly thin at 7.3 mm and comfortably light, at 173 g. The OLED display measures 6.44 inches and updates at 90 Hz. In the front, the manufacturer also uses a dual camera with a 44 MP main camera and an 8MP wide-angle camera. A triple camera is installed at the rear, which consists of the main camera with 64 MP, an ultra-wide-angle camera with 8 MP, and 2 MP sensor. OriginOS 1.0 based on Android 11 is used as the operating system. Unfortunately, nothing is known about a European launch yet.
